So, my essay’s based around the loose concept of snow. There’s meant to be no narrative/proper story to it and no main character. Very predominately descriptive. Please tell me if I’ve stuck to this criteria and if not what I need to fix. Also tell me about any spelling/grammatical/puctuational errors. Thank you in advance

Snowflakes, as delicate as paper doilies, fell delicately upon the village green, slowly coating the ground in a blanket of glittering white. Children tittered as they pelted snowballs at one another, creatively building forts of ice as they formed strategies with their playmates. Rolling their eyes and snickering, they pulled off some of their layers and layers of patterned knitwear and cosy, bulky overcoats, and proceeded to clog mud, dirt and ice all over themselves as they played. Outside the coffee shop, the mothers tutted and smiled fondly at their children’s antics. They sipped piping hot tea, chattering with their son’s best friend’s mother, or the pleasant woman across the road that had a penchant for gardening, or baking bread, or knitting.
Everything in the village had been transformed by the beauty of the snow and the night. Street lamps cast soft yellow beams of light over the children, watching over them benevolently, while so far above those protectors the stars glimmered like brilliant cut diamonds. The sky was embracing so many hues, from the palest orchid to the deepest royal violet and black as pitch as Indian ink: and these diamond stars decorated this obsidian backdrop so well. At the horizon, all that could be seen was the steep valley sides, also coated in shimmering white, which laughing teenagers were sloping down on boards. The boys puffed out their chests and practiced daring slides, while the girls giggled and held hands in groups as they slid down the icy slopes. They reached the end of the bank before they ceased sliding, the boys accidentally almost ramming into a stall in the village Christmas fête. The weary old grandma at the cake stall grumbled and shook her head, while the boys snickered and ran off once again, their trainers crunching the snow, the tracks left in the snow strange, and geometric, like animals’.
The comforting smell of home baked bread and freshly made cookies coated the air (the chocolate icing slicked heavily onto every cookie contributing a great amount) and naturally the sugary scent sent toddlers and children crowding in their droves around the respective cake and bread stalls. The grandmothers waiting on the stalls, much more gently inclined to the cheery toddlers, let them sample and share their goods, and revelled in their beaming grins as they trotted away from the centre of the fête.
Carol singers everywhere hummed their harmonies, pure and soulful as nightingales; a cascading waterfall of high pitched notes; a charming background to the quaint, lively Christmas fête. A large group of them stood by, the elderly, adults and children alike swaying merrily and chanting Deck the Halls with an intense enthusiasm that so brightened the dark night: even more than the sparkling coloured fairy lights did as they hung in multiple strings above them.
Directly next to them, small children, in their cute knitted pom-pom hats and snow-dotted mittens, stared up in wonder and awe at the colossal Christmas tree. Swathed in shimmering white raiment, it stood tall and proud, leaning protectively over the carol singers and toddlers. Its decorations sparkled like shimmering nebulas, the giant tinsel a glittering beacon of reflective light, winded around the Christmas tree like a warm winter scarf. As they welcomed back Christmas (some as an old friend, some as an exciting new acquaintance) everywhere around the village gleamed with light, even in the dark, and in the hearts of the people the most.
