Below Saturn in the night sky, towards the end of February, comet Lulin will be visible with the naked eye. Heres a handy guide on finding, not just comet Lulin, but other objects in the Jan / Feb 2009 Northern hemisphere, such as Regulus and Polaris. Theres also some useful information on Lulin over at skyandtelescope.com

I haven’t been able to find it yet, which is weird, because it’s about 10pm, rumored to be the best moment to see it. I even live out in rural Kansas too. I just ought know my constellations better I guess. Is this guys explanation only applicable to UK/Europe viewers?

i think the problem (besides light pollution) is that many may be expecting to see a comet that ‘looks like the pictures’. right now it is difficult to see even with a pair of binoculars. it looks like a tiny cotton blob and i live in maine. but as of this evening at 1am it is about 2/3 of the way between saturn and regulus. there is a semi bright star in that area. find that star in your binoculars, down and to the left is another fainter star. just to the left of that is lulin. good luck.

Thank You, that is the best video i have seen to date, which allows me, a complete novice, to look at the sky this evening, in the U.K., with nothing more than a pair of binoculars and hope to see Nulin.
    Regards
    Hugh
